Facility, Backbones, and Connectivity
Facility
Our servers are colocated with Layered Technologies in Verginia. The SAVVIS facility, code named "Imperial", features around 153,800 square feet of total space, redundant UPS systems, generator backup, VESPA detection systems, closed circuit monitoring of all areas and entrances, card key access, 24 hour guard manned security, redundant a/c systems, and fiber from 5 seperate providers. The advanced firewall system keeps out those who don't belong.
Backbones
Our servers have redundant OC3 connections and multiple fiber optic DS3 connections to eight redundant and diverse backbones (Frontier, UUNet, Concentric, CWIX, Exodus, Sprint, AboveNet, MCI) with additional redundancy / diversity from dual building entry points and multi-homed central office provisioning. We monitor backbone performance and automatically send IP traffic down the shortest path using the Cisco BGP4 protocol.
Connectivity
3.6 GB/s Cisco Catalyst 5500 switches as backbone.
Each server has a dedicated, full duplex 100 MB port.
Speed to router is 100 MB/s.
